My Other Crafts

Happy Holidays! I hope you all have had a good one. I wanted to share some of the other crafts I have been working on over the last few months. When I lost my card mojo for a while I wanted to try some other crafts. First, my crocheting project. I vaguely remember crocheting years ago. Maybe it was in high school Home Ec.  So, I got some yarn and watched a how-to video on YouTube and went to work. Still working on it and it looks like a long scarf. Next time I want to try to make a flower or something like that. Next, I tried some jewelry making. I remember as a kid making some earrings with some bobby pins and hair beads. But this time I used some beads from a kit I bought some years ago. I am not crazy about the colors but since this was for practice and fun it was OK. The turquoise circles and silver are from Michael's. Also, I have tried my hand at baking a few cakes and still drawing, too. So next time I will share some of the drawings. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cards 2012 Part 2

Well, Christmas is eight days away. Can you believe it? So, I have been busy and made more Christmas cards for our family and friends. Then, I was very excited that most of them were mailed and delivered last weekend. Yeah! All of these cards were made with Anna Griffin's Christmas collection. I loved using those Petaloo flowers and the heat embossing was fun! Click on each picture for a closer look. I like the vintage tags and pp with the bows. Loved heat embossing these with white glitter powder. Also, nice to create some simpler cards on the left & right. So pretty with this holly paper. Will post a few more this week. Thanks for stopping by! Have a nice day.

Christmas Cards 2012

Happy Holidays to you all! I have been away for so long and missed posting here on my sweet blog. I took a break from my greeting card business over the past few months and hope to get back to it early 2013. Although I have taken some time away from my cards, I have still been crafty. I played around with jewelry making, baking, drawing and even teaching myself to crochet. This has been fun learning new things. I think that is what I needed to recharge my creative battery. Finally, the mojo for my Christmas cards hit me this week and I finished some I started months ago and even made some new ones. I am looking forward to sending these to some very special family and friends. I used Anna Griffin's patterned paper I brought from HSN. Then I added some Petaloo flowers, Recollection leaves and a cream colored strip with the stamped sentiment and Martha Stewart punch for the edges. Here are some of the ones I have finished. It is hard to see but I embossed

Last Week's Art

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a nice weekend. Here are some of the drawings I did last week. I am trying different skin tones, expressions, hair colors and styles. I even tried a couple of full body people but gotta work on that some more. So far the hair is my favorite part. With my colored pencils I may used up to 3 or 4 colors to make the hair color look dimensional and authentic. Take a look! I have really enjoyed this and look forward to seeing what I do this week. Take care and have a lovely day!!!!

Our Cards & Great Events

Happy Friday! I hope your week has been a good one! Just wanted to share some cards I donated to a couple of great ladies' events. First, last month I gave these lovely cream and white thank you cards for the Behind The Bench Basketball Wives Conference held in Atlanta, GA.  Behind The Bench I was so happy to hear they were given to the special honorees. One of them was Rev. Bernice King- Dr. Martin Luther King's daughter!!!! How cool is that??? Then, this week we sent some cards to L.A. Focus Newspaper's annual First Ladies High Tea which will be tomorrow.  First Ladies High Tea I love high teas and this is a great event that we have donated to for the last few years.  This upscale tea is filled with gospel music, celebs, scholarships for youth, great food and of course lots of fabulous hats! One of our dear customers is on the committee and we love supporting her and the event.     Thanks for taking a look and hope you enjoyed! Have a great

More Portrait Drawings

Happy Friday! Well, this week among other things I have been drawing up a storm. I am still so surprised how fun and relaxing this has been for me. So here are a few I did this week I have loved thinking of different hair styles and colors as well as skin tones and make-up.  When I start sketching, I have no idea how they will turn out. So that is apart of the fun too. They all have their own unique personality and style. Also, I have had fun creating the earrings. Maybe there will be a K Simone Designs jewelry line one day!!!!! Thanks for all the cheers y'all. Love the blue I added to her hair. Also love the earrings! I would wear those. This was my 1st tilted face. Love her hair and hair color! Love her hair color and style as well as the earrings. Her eyes were too big but that's ok. Still learning! This is my favorite from top to bottom She has such personality!!! Tired a different hair-do and love her face shape. Love the hair color and

My First Drawing Attempts

Artist, me??? Over the last several years I have taken time to explore and develop my creative interests. First it was the greeting cards, scrapbooking, coloring books, painting, floral design and even some cooking. This Summer I started an art journal. I liked it so much that I wanted to improve my drawing so I would have more skill in expressing myself graphically. So I made my first real attempts to learn to draw. I never was interested in or good at drawing. I even remember in elementary school when we had to watch a video and draw what the man was drawing. I was so frustrated and couldn't get it. So you can image my surprise when all of a sudden, I wanted to draw. My husband is a great artist and I asked if I could see some of his skill books.  I picked one of the lady images to practice on and had fun trying.  The book was good because it gave a step by step guide to teach me how to do it. Please forgive her stern look but she is from a comic super-hero art book! LOL!

New K Simone Design Video

This Summer I discovered I had a program on my computer called Movie Maker. I started to play around with it and created two videos of some of my K. Simone Design cards. I really enjoyed discovering all the various functions. This video features some of what I call my "Single Fold Cards".  These are my cardstock folded card with paper enclosure. For more information on these cards, see the blog page on the right. Here is the link. Single Fold Cards The video just gives you an idea of the type of cards we can create for your special occasions and love ones. Take a look and enjoy!

My Largest Card & Other Card Creations

Happy Sunday! Hope your July has been a good one so far. I have made several cards and wanted to share a few with you. First, one of our customers wanted us to make a card for her pastor's wife. The pastor's wife happens to be my mother-in-law and of course I was so honored to make something to celebrate her birthday. This card was the largest card I've made so far. (The size is 6x10 inches) It was a fun challenge and love how it turned out. Plus Ron did a great job writing something special for the inside. I know this going to bring great joy to a woman that deserves this honor! Take a look. I used Prima pp on this white cardstock, Jolee's white fabric flower with jewels, bling swirls from Zva, rhinestone strip from David Tutera Collection and green leaves from Recollections. This lavendar lace paper in so pretty with the silver and white flower. I added the lace paper from the front to the inside right. Then on the left I added her picture as a backgoun

Crate Paper Mini Album Card

Happy Tuesday! I love flowers and so I really enjoyed making this mini album card for my sweet mother-in-law's birthday. I have made so much with the Pretty Party Crate Paper Collection. Here is the link to their whole collection.  Crate Paper So with some of my leftovers I created this lovely mini. My inspiration for all my creations using Crate Paper came from this  Two Peas Member  . The colors and flowers just feel like a vintage, lazy Summer. Here are some pictures of this card.  I can't wait for my mother-in-law to receive this card and beam with joy as she looks through it. Loved cutting out more of these flowers and adding them to the yellow lace paper. Also, I cut out the yellow edge and inked it with brown ink for a vintage look. Here is a closer look! Loved making these pockets throughout the album card. This one is a "Happy Birthday" tag. I added the rose to the top of the tag. Here is another pocket on the left with two tags. I will
