Farm Girl

Happy June! I have had some fun moments and wanted to share another.  Did you all know I grew up a "city-fied cowgirl?" Yes, I was raised in a semi-rural farm area in So. California. It was where the suburbs and country met in a city! Crazy right?  Many neighbors has farm animals like horses, cows, lambs and chickens.  One of our neighbors has some geese and they where like a burglar alarm. Any time anyone walked near them the would honk very loudly. Honk, honk, honkkkkkkk!

We had the 4-H club in our community, too. For those that don't know, that is a club where you raise farm animals, create crafts or etc that are entered in completions at the County Fairs.  I raise a lamb and boy was he a handful. After months of training him, he did great at the fair and we won a ribbon. What a cool experience this was.

I was around lots of farm animals but horses were my favorite. My family housed a horse for a friend when I was young and later I got a pony.  As a little kid, I remember being so afraid to ride one but over the years, I learned to love it.

So, fast forward a few decades and we saw a horse riding place near one of my favorite malls. For a few years, I have wanted to stop by and recently we finally did. It was like a ghost town and hardly anyone was around.  So we just looked around.

Then last weekend, we stopped by again.  They had a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids and we enjoyed driving through and seeing all the live stock.  One thing I forgot about was the strong smell. LOL! When I got out and walked around, that smell was saying hello to my nose! LOL!

But overall it was fun to go down memory lane there. I am not sure I want to ride at this place but it was fun just being there.

Here are some pics from our adventure!

This horse had a friendly face. I think he was saying,  "Hey, can you be my friend?"

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice weekend!

  2. It was so fun to learn more about your growing up years. I have to laugh at your comment about the smell. The first time we took our first granddaughter to the County Fair, she sniffed the air and said, "The animals are this way, I can smell them. Let's go see them." She has always been an animal lover.

Emmy's 2010

Did you watch the red carpet last night for the Emmy's? I love watching these award show red carpets more than the show itself.  I just saw the pictures online. One the sites I looked at was radaronline.com. These pictures are from there. First, I liked the navy blue one.  The dress had lots of drama and she wore it well. The purple one was interesting.  Still trying to decide if I like it. Maybe it would have been better with the layers on the bottom but not both.  I really love the color and the idea. Maybe a little too much going on. radaronline.com This next dress worn by Eva Longoria was so pretty. The black flowers on the bottom of the dress was so stunning! She looked  great, too. I wonder how the dress would look in a lighter color? Maybe the floral details would show up better. radaronline.com Out of  all the dresses I saw these were the most interesting ones. I was a little disappointed there weren't more WOW dresses. Also, there were s...

Valentine's Cards

Happy belated Valentine's Day. I hope it was a sweet one for you all. I just love making greeting cards for this holiday.  Nornally for Valentine's I make red and black cards which I love but this year I decided to add some pastel colored cards to my collection. Earlier this year, I made some cards with this beautiful paper pad from Michael's. I loved it so much, I just had to see if I could use it for Valentine's and they look great to me. Details:  Recollections Paper is from Michael's 6x6 paper pad called "Blush and Mint."  Flowers made with my Spellbinders scalloped circles.  Take a look! Do you feel the love? LOL! Cards are 5x7 in size. See the heart in the center? Love that idea!     Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day!
