My Art Journal Journey

Happy almost August! I can't believe how fast this year is going. But I hope it has been good for you so far. While I still love creating cards, I do love trying new arts and crafts. So this Summer, I have dived into mixed media art journaling.

I have watched  Donna Downey for years and love her Inspiration Wednesday videos.  So I wanted to try my hand at her style of journaling.  I have enjoyed watercolors over the years but wanted to play around with acrylic paints. So off to Michael's I went getting supplies. Glad they were having some good sales on art supplies, too. Yippee!

After years of making nice and neat creations, this journaling lets me get in touch with my spontaneous, playful, adventurerous, emotional and messy sides. Donna has such a free spirited way to creating and I am inspired by it.  And when she was using her fingers to paint, I was in! Play time! Yeah!

I am having a blast trying her techniques and hope to keep watching her videos for more ideas. Thanks Donna!!! Wish I could give you a big ole' hug! :)

I found some heavy acrylic paper at Michael's and folded some sheets in half and made my own journal. On these pages I have or will be journaling my thoughts. It has been therapeutic expressing my feeling in color. What an experience!

All of these pages I did were inspired by something I saw in her videos. So take a look at what I have done so far!

I don't know why Donna uses the inner tag but I have done it too. But after a while I stopped. Not for me.

My first journal entry!

I loved how this turned out. Looks like a open field filled with pink wild flowers and blue skies.

DRIPPAGE!!!! I loved getting messy on this one.

I loved using drippage from the bottom up. Still needs something, hum...

I wish you could see the gold metallic cast on this one. Also, my first time using molding paste, a stencil to make the vines and acrylic glazing liquid.

Well, I hope to share more down the road. If you haven't visit Donna's website, take a look.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

  1. Terrific job Kelly! Each page was wonderful. I took a class not long ago and the best part was getting messy. The vines you created with the molding paste turned out wonderfully. Love the color selection and the tag technique. I cannot wait to see what you create next.

Vintage Love is Here

I love making greeting cards for Valentine's Day. When my husband and I were dating, he started a tradition of giving each other cards for special occasions. I hadn't been a big card person then but after he started giving me so many great cards, I loved it. I loved giving as much as receiving them. Valentine's Day was one of the best times to get a wonderful card from him. So you can say, he is one of the reasons I got into card making. I loved that feeling of receiving a card from someone I loved and loved me. So with that in mind, we are happy to introduce our "Vintage Love" Collection . I enjoyed creating a daytime and night time versions of these cards. I love the variety that came from my limited supplies. If you need a special card for your loved ones, they will be available in our Etsy store (  www.kellyron.etsy.com   ) for $5.00 each plus shipping and handling . Also, if you would like us to type your expressions on the inside of the card or a organ...

Live Forward

Happy October to all! I am getting ready for the holidays already and hope to have some Christmas cards to share soon. While I am in card mode and am still enjoying creating faces and painting. Here is one of the last ones I did called, "Live Forward." Just a reminded to keeping looking ahead in life. Driving like life is supposed to be done by looking through the windshield not the rear view window. (Oh, that is a good one. LOL!) Also, I loved using strips of patterned paper in the background. Then painted over them with layers of colors and then added stamps and that face. Isn't she pretty? I am so proud I am learning to draw profiles. They have been hard to do but I am starting to get it. Take a look! Thanks for looking and hope you have a terrific day!

Our Romantic Anniversary Dinner

Happy Thursday! I hope your week has been great.  Today I wanted  to share some of our wedding anniversary pictures with you.  Last Sunday, my hubby arranged for us to have a romantic dinner at the very place where we had our wedding reception.  I was so excited when I found out that they set up a table for us to have the whole banquet room to ourselves.  How great was that??? The restaurant is right on the bay and has the most spectacular  views.  So when we arrived they had a table set up for us right by the windows so we could get an even better view.  They had the rest of the room set up for an event but I still could remember how it looked the night of our wedding with the lights and the dance floor.  Plus the left side of the room is nothing but windows so you can see more of this secluded bay. So as we dined we watched the sunset and it was so fabulous.  Even at night all the lights from the surroundin...
