Personal Writing- A Musical Message in the Grassy Lawn

2020 has been an overwhelming year filled with losses, grief, anger, fears and uncertainty.  We are living through unprecedented global times.  Quarantine life has made us all homebodies and chefs. (Anybody else grateful for food but tired of cooking??? LOL!)

Our home has become an office, gym, filming and art studio, restaurant, shopping center and movie theater. We have learned how to “Zoom” “Hangout” and “Skye.” Many of the nation’s kids are going to school online and my prayers are with all the parents that must handle that each day. Whew!

My husband Ron and I have held on to each other and God like never before. In the mist of all this craziness, we are so thankful that God has protected and provided for us.

But on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 I was having a tough day. I’ve been managing the year’s stress ok but this day I was really feeling overwhelmed and struggling to deal with it all.

I prayed about it and expressed my heavy emotions to the Lord. Then, I decided to take a walk. Due to social distancing, I stopped walking out on our front street but this day I decided to go out there and see if no one else was around.

Yup, the path was clear to take a stroll and it felt so good! As I was returning to our building, I saw something on the grassy lawn.

What is that?” I asked myself. As I got closer it looked like sheet music. When I looked down it was two pages from a church hymn book!

I was thinking, “How in the world did this end up here on the grass?” The only church around is a Spanish speaking church so it didn’t come from there. It was so amazing to find these rare and aged hymn pages on my front lawn.

I was so shocked and surprised! The songs were, “The Haven of Rest” and “A Shelter In The Time of Storm.”

Those titles just knocked my socks off and I was so overwhelmed that God would encourage me in this way. As I read the lyrics, I just felt God’s peace and hope engulf me.

After this experience, I was so excited to share this news with Ron. I couldn’t wait for him to come home! A few hours later when he arrived, I took him out front and the music was still there. Then, I thought to turn it over (without touching it of course) to see what was on the other side. So, I flipped the pages over and the songs listed were, “I Belong to the King”. “I Am Trusting Thee,” and “Rock of Ages.” Can you believe it????

Wow! My spirit was so uplifted, and I was inspired to give all my stress and concerns to GOD and trust Him to navigate me through these uncharted waters.

God is a good father who knows how to encourage us right when we need it most. I am grateful I went outside that afternoon. Also, what was even more amazing is that the next day the music was still there! With all the street traffic and breezes it did not blow away. I hope others were also encouraged by the powerful lyrics.

Although the sheets of music have disappeared, I will always remember this moment. WOW!

God is with us because His word says so. But seeing these reminders from time to time are also incredibly special. God is with us so don’t be surprised if He sends a phone call, a rainbow, a song or even hymn music in the grass to remind you He hears you.

Soul Sistah Painting

I love trying new things in art. It is like an adventure and a hearty challenge. So after I saw this picture of the soul singer Ledisi, I just had to try it. Love the dark eye shadow and the head tilted. So dramatic! When I first tried adding the blue eye shadow to my painting it looked cool to me. But when I had my hubby look at it he nicely told me the blue I did made her eyes look hollow! LOL! So I went back and added a lighter blue and that did it! So here are some pictures showing the progression of my version of Ledisi. Thanks for stopping by! Have a super day.

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and a cousin. It was so great to have m
