About Us

Welcome!

I am Kelly S. Roberts of K. Simone Designs! Ron and I are a husband and wife team from sunny California. We love being on a creative journey together. Both of us are self taught artists. Ron's passion for art started in his childhood. He has fond memories of drawing with his younger brother and having fun. Also, he is a writer, poet and loves design.

In 2006, I was struggling with grief, depression and anxiety. During the holidays, I started making Christmas greeting cards for family and friends. It was such a joy for me and my loved ones. This is when my creative exploration began and what an exciting adventure it has been.

Then on April 21, 2011, we started our card business, K. Simone Designs. I created the cards while Ron was my design editor, writer of the sentiments and all around business partner. We have created numerous cards for family, friends, a local shop and many public figures. (See some of our highlights below)

Art is also a blooming talent of mine. I am a self-taught artist that started at 45 years old. One day, I was looking through one of Ron's drawing books and started practicing. I got hooked! I was drawing then eventually painting. You can check out my virtual art shows, gallery and store information here on this blog. Click HERE

It has been so exciting to see this whole creative side of me emerge. It was hidden for years but finally made its way forward. Maybe it took going through some dark times to find MY LIGHT. Ron and I are looking forward to brighter days ahead in our life and our talents.

Thanks for stopping by our blog and enjoy all the fun and inspiration here. God Bless!

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
