My Top 5 Moments of 2020- K. Simone Designs

Happy New Year!!! 2020 was a challenging year for all of us. But when I look back I was surprised at all the good that happened to me and my business, K. Simone Designs. Today, I will be sharing my top five favorite moments of 2020. Let's go!

1. New Blog/Website-

In March 2020, I launched a new blog called, "Inspired Me 411." It is an arts and crafts resource directory I created to house all the creative information I have found and/or used over the years. When the pandemic hit and I was so glad I had this resource available. My goal was to encourage and inspire others to craft their way through the stress of 2020. Crafting has definitely helped me get through these uncertain days.

2. New YouTube Channel Videos-
In June 2020,  I was so thrilled to create my first ever craft videos for YouTube. For years, I dreamed of making papercrafting and art tutorial videos and it felt so great to finally accomplish my goal. I published 38 videos, gained 117 subscribers and had a ball making new friends. I learned so much about YouTube, video editing and marketing that will help me create even better videos in 2021.

Also, I  launched my first YouTube video art series called, "Story Time With..." in September. This is an inspirational series where I present my art, tell how I made it and share my life lessons. I told stories of self care, love, patience, celebration, bravery and more. Stop by and see these videos if you haven't.

3. My Art Shop-
For several years, I had a shop set up at Society 6 online art website but wasn't doing anything with it. But last fall, a cousin suggested I sell my art. I was inspired and decided to refresh my shop. I paired the art from my YouTube art series' stories with the shop. I wanted people to be able to buy the art they saw on my channel. I got my first sales during the holidays and I am very happy about that.

4. Featured Scrapbook Pages-
Last year, I really got into scrapbooking. It was a pleasure creating so many layouts and sharing them with my creative community. One day a friend told me I was featured in the gallery on Scrapbook dot com and boy was I surprised and elated.  I was spotlighted 5 or 6 times. So cool!

5. "Dress Up With Me Monday" Challenge-
In August of 2020, I was so tired of wear the same ole cozy clothes and missed my happy, dress up clothes. My closet was calling out to me. LOL! I decided every Monday, I would wear some of these forgotten clothes, accessories and/or makeup to fill me with joy.  I invited the Two Peas Refugees community to join me and on August 17, 2020 I kicked off this fun event! Lots of ladies participated and had great results.  A few of the ladies even inspired others to dress up, too. It became an exciting thing for many of us. Also in October, I started  this event on Instagram for three Mondays.

This has been great medicine for me and I am still hosting this challenge. It has been 17 weeks now and I plan on continuing for as long as I need this. Join me you are interested.

I wore this hoodie sweater last Monday and the sequins made me smile!

2020 had it good moments and I am looking forward to many more good things happening in 2021. May God bless you and your families this year! Be inspired!

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
