September Card Challenge is Up

Happy September! You know what the first of the month brings... a new card challenge. I have a new one up at Scrapping the Moments. They had a blog hop with the theme being "Back to School." So make a card for that special kid or youth wishing them a great year as they get back to school. Come on over to see more information about the challenge.

Also, we have lots of other fun challenges over at Scrapping The Moments. Our design team produces some amazing work each month.

Here is the card I made for this challenge. I had a little hard time making a card for a child but I had fun and stretched my skills. This is the first card I ever made for a little girl and the first card I made using a stamped and colored image. Plus, this was the first time I used a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 size card. So I was really getting out of the box. You should try it out.

Used yellow cs, Echo Park pp, yellow ribbon, red flowers, owl stamp, colored pencils and pop dots on the owl.

So, join us in making cards for those special children and youth in your world. They will be so surprised to receive a "Back to School" card from you. Thanks for looking!

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
