11 Years & Counting

Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. This picture is the cover of a special photo album my father-in-law made for us. He is a great photographer and he filled this book with lots of great memories.

It is hard to believe it has been 11th years since we said, "I DO." The time is just flying by. I still remember when I first met Ron.  We were students in college. He was a shy and kind young man with a full head of hair! LOL! We were briefly acquainted with each other before he transferred to another college. Also, his dad was one of my professors and of course I now tease my father-in-law and say he was the hardest teacher I had. LOL!

After Ron left, we never saw each other again. Then, 16 years later, our parents randomly met each other at a conference. They had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. Later that day, his mother asked him if he remembered a girl name Kelly from college and he vividly did. A short time later he called and we got reacquainted. I have to credit my mother-in-law for getting the ball rolling. LOL!

He was still the kind and gentle man I remembered but this time with no hair. :) Over the months, our friendship turned into love and the love turned into a proposal and marriage. Our wedding day was January 28, 2006 on a glorious winter's sunny day in front of hundreds of our family and friends.

I loved everything about our day but one of my favorite moments was this picture. It was one of the first times we could take a break from all the ceremonies and just have a moment to take it all in. What a moment!

I look forward to all the joys this eleventh year will bring. Thanks to all of you for sharing this moment with us. Cheers!

  2. Congratulations, Kelly and Ron. I love your story and know that your mother-in-law just knew that you would be the kind of daughter-in-law that she wanted. She was right and I'm glad Ron listened. You two are so cute together.

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
