K. Simone Designs' Birthday

Today we are celebrating our 2nd anniversary of K. Simone Designs.  April 21, 2011 Ron and I started our greeting card business and opened our Etsy store.  I still remember how excited I was to start this chapter of my life, entrepreneur. Although I have been on a creative break from making cards, I still wanted to reflect on the past year.  I want to thank you all for your support and cheers along the way.  We have the best customers and we feel honored to be apart of their special moments with our cards. This year, we are looking forward to restocking our shop and taking more custom orders, so stay tuned! Highlights The biggest highlight of the year was this video from our dear Twitter friend, Gospel music legend Vickie Winans. Many of you saw it and every time I watch it I still get filled with happy emotions. Vickie's Video Along with all the sales we love to donate, too. Last Summer, we donated to the National Associa...

Easter Scrapbooking

We had a fun and relaxing Easter weekend. Since we both just love the classics so we watched the "Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston and Fred Astairs' "Easter Parade."  The "Ten Commandments" was so long we didn't make it to the very end but got close. LOL! Also, I had a good time trying a new cornbread dressing recipe for our Sunday dinner. It was some work but worth it. Boy, was it good! On Easter afternoon, we had a blast having our own personal photo shoot. There were so many beautiful flowers and plants around so we jumped right in. So here are the layouts I made celebrating our Easter. Thanks for stopping by! I hand painted the paper with watercolors and  created the strips. Then, I dripped some of the paint around the edges. I drew the basket with my colored pencils and cut it, the eggs and the grass. The tile was made with glittered letters- Good Times.  I had fun making these eggs with lots of glitter. ...

My Super Hero

This month we celebrated my sweet husband's birthday. I really went crazy with all the creativity to make his day extra special. Since he loves super heroes, especially the Green Lantern I decided to make the weekend birthday celebration with a super hero theme. He was so excited as I presented a special creations throughout the four days of celebration. Everything was a surprise and I couldn't wait for his reactions. I started it off making a Green Lantern sign we hung up wishing him a "Happy Birthday."  Then, I made him a super card which featured our green hero. One night before his weekend, I got an idea to create and write a comic book style story introducing a new hero, Careerman. This hero was about my husband's life as a career counselor. It turned out so funny and we both laughed so much. I even drew of picture of what I thought our new hero Careerman would look like. I was so happy how it turned out. We have a How To Draw Comics book. So I found a...

Spring Flowers

Spring is in the air! Happy March all. I hope it is going well for you. Here are some pictures I took of of some beautiful flowers. I just love flowers don't you? My camera may be old but it still gets the job done. Enjoy! See the water drop at the bottom? That was a nice surprise I saw after the fact. Got the bee but didn't want him to get me. LOL!

Just Be Layout

Hope your week has been good. I had some computer problems and so glad to be back online. It is so amazing hooked we are to technology.  I did good after a few days of no computer but if I have to good any long, boy that would of been tough!!! LOL! Well, I still have the scrapping bug.  This layout was inspired by the "Scrap Your Stash" challenge over at Two Peas.  The challenge was to use envelopes on a page. I had a ball finally using these envelopes I had sitting forever.  The bad news was because my computer wasn't working, I missed the deadline to submit this but maybe next time. "Just Be" is my personal theme and wanted to make an inspiration page to encourage me.  I journaled in all the white envelopes inspirational thoughts for me. Yes, and these pics are of me. So cool for me to see me at two different time periods and how far I have grown. Oh, I need to hang this up so I can see it everyday. Take a look! Used Echo Park patterne...

Watercolor Paper Layouts

I few years ago, I started playing around with watercolors. I taught myself somethings and really enjoyed it. I haven't painted in a while but had a great idea. I wanted to scrap some of my anniversary pictures but didn't have the right colors of paper to work with. So why not paint the paper?  And that is what I did! All the background papers were painted to match the colors in the pictures. I really had fun, too.  Also, I printed each of the large pictures and added my journaling on top. Another cool idea. Take a look! Heat embossed the words at the top and then added blue ink. Stamped, hand cut and even heat embossed the white hearts. Added pop dots to the letters for dimension. Loved adding these rub-on words to the pictures. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Our Romantic Anniversary Dinner

Happy Thursday! I hope your week has been great.  Today I wanted  to share some of our wedding anniversary pictures with you.  Last Sunday, my hubby arranged for us to have a romantic dinner at the very place where we had our wedding reception.  I was so excited when I found out that they set up a table for us to have the whole banquet room to ourselves.  How great was that??? The restaurant is right on the bay and has the most spectacular  views.  So when we arrived they had a table set up for us right by the windows so we could get an even better view.  They had the rest of the room set up for an event but I still could remember how it looked the night of our wedding with the lights and the dance floor.  Plus the left side of the room is nothing but windows so you can see more of this secluded bay. So as we dined we watched the sunset and it was so fabulous.  Even at night all the lights from the surroundin...
