National Craft Month

Hey crafters, how are you enjoying this years craft month? What are you working on? I have been making a crochet hat on and off since January. I saw this beginner tutorial with Melanie K. Ham on YouTube, Click Here to see the video. I hope to finish it this month. It's been great to try a different craft and learn to use other skills. Fingers crossed my hat will at least be wearable when I am done! LOL!

If you aren't a crafter, give it a try! There  are all sorts of relaxing arts and crafts to explore out there. I have even seen craft kits on Amazon which is perfect for a beginner.

With all the stress going on in this world right now, using your hands in a fun and distracting activity is a great way to cope.

So get to crocheting, papercrafting, sewing, baking, painting or whatever floats your boat.Try something new. You might be happily surprised with what you discover! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. That hat is your colour, Kelly. Bet it will look great on you when you are done. Hope you share a photo. My mother knitted and crocheted and embroidered, but sadly I never picked up the skill. Good for you going out and learning new ways to use your creativity!

The only craft I am working on this month is scrapbooking, but I am getting lots of pages finished.

    1. Who knows, you may get into crocheting at some point, Dee. I had know plans to get into last year. All the ladies were all into it and I was not interested. Then, the fun bug hit me and it was a nice option for me.

    1. Thanks Lisa for stopping by! I love the color too. I went over the directions again and my dimensions were all off. So, I took it apart and started again. Still working on it and can't wait to finish it. :)

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
