Inspired Me

Happy Thursday! I have been drawing and painting still and learning so much. Last art I shared focused on darker skin tones  so this time I wanted to try lighter ones. I was mixing away those colors. Some trial and error before I found natural looking tones. Take a look! Which one do you like?  This was my first one. I love the white flakes I added.  She looks nice and tan.  I was inspired to create this one from Donna Downey art on her website. Love the wild, free hair.  I wanted to try a face with glasses and love it. Here hair came out great, too. I love the bubbles. Happy 4th of July! I hope you are licking those fingers from eating delicious BBQ and all the fixings. Today I am sharing some fun paintings I did on some old large paper I had. It was a nice change to create on such big paper. Recently, I heard a song that inspired me to want to make a special painting for myself. After I made that one, I got so inspired I had to make more pictures of parts of my life. Also, this was a new challenge too to paint the skin colors. I haven't done that very much and still learning how to do it. But I do love how the colors turned out. Take a look and hope you have a fun holiday weekend! Just love the butterflies and the magical dust they give. The hair was so fun, too! Love the skin tones and the circles. They look like bubbles! I found this flower online and had to add it. Still working on this one. Not sure what to add to the background. Maybe nothing.

OMG, I woke up today to some sad news. I went to their general message boards like I do all the time and  saw the closing message. I was telling my husband about it and got choked up. I joined the Pokey Peas there on the message boards and many of us have become long time friends. They gave me such support and praise as I was discovering my various arts. I enjoyed chatting with the girls about life too. It was a place where I grew was a woman and an artist. I am so grateful for Two Peas and all they did for the scrapbooking community all these years. The videos, the events, the shopping and of course the friends will be missed! Where will we hang out now? Any suggestions?

I am still in a note card mood. They are so easy to make and with all the stencils, paints and ideas the designs are almost limitless. Here are more that I recently created. Each one of these is layered with multiple colors. I used my different ink pads to go over the edges. This one in orange.   This was fun layering the colors on top of  the other.   That is it for today. Hope you enjoyed!    

I really like this chalkboard trend that is out there these days. I have had some ideas swirling in my head and finally got those ideas created. For Mother's Day, I wanted to make my own chalkboard look. I painted some white card stock black with regular acrylic paint. Then, I stamped and embossed with white powder. Finally, I took some white chalk and rubbed it all over and then rubbed it all in to smooth it out. That was it! Take a look! Thanks for stopping by!

For Father's Day, I got an idea to use this bow tie template I saw online. Here is the link from How About Orange  So easy to make and adorable. I used a paper bag as the base and cut the top off to make it a 6x6 size. The inside panel was just right for journaling our thoughts on the front and back. Alone with patterned paper and a few stickers this gift was just right for my father in-law and brother in-law. Take a look! A nice pouch for my journaling panel. The metal piece was just right too. The back of the card. Here are a few stickers I added. Here is the back where lots of journaling was written. Here is another one with the rich wood grain patterned paper. This was given to my father in-law. I added some foam sponge inside the bow to keep it uplifted. On both sides I distressed the edges with brown ink and ripped it up some. Here are more cute note cards I made out of  4x6 index cards. I really enjoyed these and still coming up with more new ideas. I used acrylic paint to paint the cards and the doilies. I even used colored chalk on the orange and yellow doilies just to see how that our work. Then I cut the doilies in half to mix and match them on different cards. I made these for my husband. I used more masculine colors and styles. He loved them, too. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day.
