Summer Art Video Highlight- Stencil Art

Thanks to all of you that stop by and saw my Summer Art Show video! I was really excited to share it and glad to hear all the positive response. Awesome! For those of you that missed it, check it out here. 2014 Summer Art Show

One of my favorite parts of the video was the stencil art girls.

So here is a look at how I created them.

Get an image you like from a magazine or online. Then trace image on a clear plastic sheet and cut it out.

Now the fun part! Just go crazy using your fingers, paint brush or whatever to make a big paint mess.

Lay down your stencil and use dark paint to go around the image. I used a make-up wedge and dabbed the paint on.

Remove the stencil and look at the magic! I used my wedge sponge to finish coloring the dark blue over all the background.

Then outline with white or black pen, add the hair and that's it!

I hope you get to try this if you haven't already. So fun! Also, I used that same image to make this next painting.

I traced her on white cardstock, painted her brown, cut out her dress from patterned paper and added a paper flower I colored.

So that is how I did that! Thanks for visiting and happy crafting to ya!

My Birthday Blog Party

Welcome to my Birthday Blog Party! I am starting my celebration early to fully enjoy my day. My actual birthday is May 29th but why not start early right? :) When I think of birthdays past, they were always such exciting times for me. Many of my birthdays were celebrated with fun parties from my childhood to my young adult years. I loved all of those special parties and to this day, I still love it. Maybe this is where my love for event planning all started. At my 3rd birthday, my parents gave me a big one. I don't really remember but the pictures are so cool. I had lots of kids there, a clown, a little merry-go-round ride and lots of games. I had a white little outfit on and was looking so cute for a Spring party. Boy, I looked so happy! Also, I was brave not to be afraid of the clown, too. My mom was holding me as I blew the candles out. Another year, I had my first slumber party. That was so fun! I invited several friends and ...

Vintage Layout

I wanted to share this layout with you all. I recently submitted a design team application and I had to make a layout. I haven't made a layout in years so it was a nice challenge. I enjoyed making the first one so much I wanted to try another one. This one is dedicated to my sweet grandmother, Thelma Cobbs. This was her college picture back in the 1930's. I just love this picture of her, the sepia tone color and the style is so classic.  Her style has influenced my artistic approach.  I loved all her lace handkerchiefs, hats, gloves, purses and jewel. So I have taken a lot of her traditional, glamours style and use it on my cards and now layouts.  I know she would be so proud to see her fashion sense in my work. Maybe it is my way of keeping her alive and close to me.  Love and miss you Nana! Supplies used are: Webster's Pages patterned paper, Scenic Route rub-on words, Prima flowers, leaves from Michael's, form adhesive on the lady images, cream ribbon and white...
