Comfort & Joy

Merry Christmas everyone!  Wishing you and yours a marvelous time celebrating. Here is a mixed media painting I made for the holidays called "Comfort & Joy." I hope it warms your heart. It does mine. Enjoy!

2013 Christmas Cards

Peace, Love and Joy to you all this holiday season.  This is also the theme of my Christmas cards. My original idea didn't work so well but adding the polka dot paper was the solution. Now they feel like happy and bright cards. Boy does it feel so great to finish these cards! This Fall, I lost some of my paper crafting mojo and so glad to see it return. Maybe our creativity needs to recharge its batteries for a while and then returns nice and fresh. Take a look! I used Echo Park pp, Petaloo flowers, Recollections leaves, Zva jewels, glitter ribbon and Hero Arts stamp. Thanks for stopping by! Have a terrific day!

More Drawings

Happy December! This month has started off really cold and I hope you all are having lots of warm days and cozy nights. Bundle up folk! Here are more drawing I recently did. All of them were fun to try but I really captured the true look of my hubby Ron and Ellen. Take a look! Click on the image for a larger view. This is my second try at Rihanna. I like it! Beyonce! Ellen! I really captured her with her sparkling eyes. My honey!!! When I look at this one sometimes I get emotional. It really looks like him. Those eyes!!! Love him! Oh, I wish you could see these drawing in person. The pictures don't really show all the details but good enough. Thanks for stopping by. Have a nice day!

Realistic Pencil Art

Happy November to you all! I hope you are enjoying your week. Today I wanted to share some new art I have been learning over  the past few weeks. It is a realistic style of pencil art. I just love how they are turning out. Here are a few pictures of some of my favorites. Until I learn to draw teeth let's just assume they are there! LOL! This is the first one I was trying to add shadows. Mother and child just look so content! Originally, I drew this one and erased most of it. Then I started again and so proud of how she turned out. Those eye are sparkling and her hair is so smooth. Love the light in her hair. I drew her from a picture of Rihanna. I  drew this one from a picture of myself. Just love it! This lady just looks so excited, happy and lovely. I drew her from a picture of Jennifer Garner.       Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.

More Paintings from October

Happy Friday! I hope your week has been productive. Hold on because the holidays are right around the corner. I did have fun drawing and painting. Here are some of the recent paintings from this month. I love the hot pink with the flowers. I also love her friendly face and hair.   The bold background is just fun with her colorful style.   I used vintage printed paper in the background and added paint and colored pastels. Plus she turned out so stunning with her blond hair and sharp features.  Thanks for looking and have a relaxing weekend!

Live Forward

Happy October to all! I am getting ready for the holidays already and hope to have some Christmas cards to share soon. While I am in card mode and am still enjoying creating faces and painting. Here is one of the last ones I did called, "Live Forward." Just a reminded to keeping looking ahead in life. Driving like life is supposed to be done by looking through the windshield not the rear view window. (Oh, that is a good one. LOL!) Also, I loved using strips of patterned paper in the background. Then painted over them with layers of colors and then added stamps and that face. Isn't she pretty? I am so proud I am learning to draw profiles. They have been hard to do but I am starting to get it. Take a look! Thanks for looking and hope you have a terrific day!

Paintings with Inspiration

Happy day to you all. Today, I am presenting some of my mixed media art paintings. After doing so many fun journal pages, I wanted to try doing a painting using my leftover paper pad backs. They are a hard cardboard and great to practice as I head toward creating on a canvas. I created a collage affect as the base with book pages and/or patterned paper. The faces were done separately and then I cut them out and added. Some of the faces I did with colored pencil and others I painted. Still learning how to paint their faces and added shadowing, too. Also, I liked mixing inspiration words and text with these images. So here they are. Which is your favorite??? Click on the pictures for a enlarged view.     God's Delight This was my very first one. I like the metallic gold on her turban and earrings. I also added that gold on the edges. I like how the book text is peeking through. Peaceful    Don't you feel the peace? Love the...

What a Face!

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a nice week. Today I am sharing more of my art journal pages. I have been watching Claudia Rossi and MISSMITCHELL1989 on YouTube. They have some fantastic tutorials showing how to transfer your drawings to your journal or canvas. So I was excited to try it out. Since I have been drawing a lot this was a perfect next step for me.  I loved drawing, coloring, cutting out and then pasting these faces in my journal.  Also, such a time saving idea. I liked this face so much I had to paint her twice! LOL! And not sure why I am hooked on pink & purple hair but I love it! I does fit with mood of the pages of "Being bold and unique." Hope like checking them out and many feel inspired too. Loved all the drippage! I added a few jewels to make earrings. I love her hair and those eyes! Her skin tone turned out nice, too. I used my colored pencils. Thanks for visiting and have a lovely weekend!

Sweet Day & Fun Night

Fall is coming soon. I can feel it in the air and I am happy. I did have a good Summer and went to a few fun places. With all the art journaling and drawing I have been doing, it was fun to make a few scrapbook pages. A few weeks ago, we went to our favorite shopping center Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA. We had a ball!  Here are a few pages from my day. Loved the bright colors and painting on the page. I added white paint to the edge of the pics. I liked drawing the stems and leaves, too. I was stamping and stamping! I used my black glitter powder to heat emboss the butterflies. I used popped dots of the two butterflies. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

I wish you could see the golden paint I added. It shimmers! And that pink hair ROCKS! Love this pastel, artsy, messy and fun pages. Thanks for visiting and have a fantastic weekend!
